The Food not bombs initiative, which has been distributing food to those in need for more than two decades, stated on the termination of activities in Moscow due to the threat of danger:
“We have an announcement: we stop all activities and disband our initiative. Even though we did nothing illegal, today we are in danger and we cannot let it happen again.
If you have the opportunity, help people in need. What else to add? Hugs. Fucked up.”
Food not bombs are activist groups that distribute vegetarian and vegan food (that is, free of meat and animal products) made from surplus that would otherwise be thrown away. With such actions, the participants of the initiative draw attention to the problems of militarism and hunger.
