The Department of Justice placed Meta on the register of "extremist organizations."
The Tverskoy District Court declared Meta an "extremist organization" back in March. This decision was due to the company's moderation policy. After the outbreak of the war, Meta stopped removing threats and calls for violence against the Russian military, as well as Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko.
It was noted that the court decision does not apply to the activities of the WhatsApp messenger, owned by Meta, since it does not publicly disseminate information.
On October 11, Rosfinmonitoring added Meta to the list of "organizations involved in terrorism and extremism."
