Novaya Gazeta journalist Ilya Azar informedthat he had just been barred from the Berlin-Riga flight by Air Baltic:
“They referred to the text of IATA (International Air Transport Association – ed.), which says that Russians cannot enter Latvia, and the exception is A and C visas. (Azar has a humanitarian long-term visa D of Latvia – ed.)
All my explanations that, in fact, it’s still the other way around, and you probably have a mistake, rested on this text and some boss on the phone.
It should be noted that the practice of checking the visas of Russians on domestic flights became regular at European airports after the start of the war.
