UK confirms delivery of Brimstone 2 high-precision missiles to Ukraine

The British Ministry of Defense has confirmed the transfer of Brimstone 2 high-precision laser-guided missiles to Ukraine. Video with the shipment of missiles is posted on Twitter department.

“As part of the aid package, the UK has provided the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Brimstone 2 precision-guided missiles. This has played a critical role in holding back Russia’s advance,” the statement said.

On November 22, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported on the transfer of missiles to Kiev. The Brimstone 2 missiles, which cost about $207,000 each, are launched using aircraft, helicopters or drones to destroy land and sea targets, including moving ones. How many missiles the UK has donated is unknown.

Brimstone 2 launched from an aircraft has a range of about 60 km, according to The Telegraph. As specified in the article, Ukrainian troops use modified ground-based launchers to launch, which can reduce the flight range.

The missiles can also select their own target from a pre-programmed list using extremely high-frequency radar, allowing them to focus on the most suitable targets, excluding civilian vehicles or less important military equipment.
