During the nine months of the war, Russia launched more than 16,000 missile strikes against Ukraine, in 97% of cases the targets were civilian objects. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.
“We are fighting against a terrorist state. Ukraine will win and bring war criminals to justice,” he writes on his Twitter. According to him, more than 12,000 strikes hit villages and towns, about 2,000 – on residential buildings, and only about a thousand – on military, transport and energy infrastructure.
At the same time, the Russian authorities have been claiming from the first day of the war that they are attacking only Ukrainian military facilities. So, on November 24, after a massive attack on Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement stating that “not a single strike was made on targets within the city of Kiev”: “All the destruction announced by the Kiev regime in the city was the result of the fall of missiles of foreign and Ukrainian air defense systems located in residential areas of the Ukrainian capital”.
