The independent Dagestani newspaper Chernovik stopped publishing its printed version, claiming that, under pressure from the authorities, it was refused to be printed even in other parts of the country:

“What is happening with Chernovik is politically motivated pressure on the newspaper by the authorities of Dagestan, who are incapable of honest and legal opposition in the information field” – says in a newspaper statement.

Recall that since June 2019, the criminal prosecution of the editor of the “Religion” department of “Chernovik” Abdulmumin Hajiyev has been ongoing: the journalist is accused of participating in terrorist activities. The journalist was recognized by Memorial as a political prisoner.
