France will create a special tribunal to investigate the crimes of Russia in the war with Ukraine

The French authorities are creating a special tribunal against Russia because of the war unleashed in Ukraine. This is stated in the message of the French Foreign Ministry:

“The fight against impunity for crimes committed in Ukraine after the start of Russian aggression is a priority for France. We have mobilized in support of both the Ukrainian justice system and the International Criminal Court, which are competent to conduct impartial and independent investigations to ensure that those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice.”

The Tribunal is being created jointly with European and Ukrainian partners.

On the eve of the creation of a special tribunal under the auspices of the UN proposed the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. She stated that the European Union will work together with the International Criminal Court.

“Russia must pay for its terrible crimes. That is why, while continuing to support the International Criminal Court, we propose the creation of a specialized court, with the support of the UN, to investigate and prosecute the crime of Russian aggression,” she said.
