Stew, tea and medals. Mothers in Russia are thanked for sending children to war with food packages

Towels and cakes

The authorities of the Kursk region presented the mothers and wives of the fallen soldiers with a set of towels and a cake. They were issued on the eve of Mother's Day. “The head of the Lgovsky district, Sergei Korostelev, met with the mothers of the dead servicemen who took part in a special military operation,” the district administration said. It was Korostelev who presented the gifts. The action caused a resonance in the media and social networks, the administration of the Kursk region had to react to it, which criticized Korostelev.

“The head of the district must draw conclusions and prevent such indifference and actions that discredit the authorities,” the administration’s press service told TASS journalists.

“This case is the very example of non-compliance with moral and ethical standards by local authorities. Perhaps the attempt to support mothers is dictated by positive motives, the desire to support families, but this personal initiative of the head of the district has achieved the opposite effect, ”the Kursk authorities told Podyom, calling the incident “a negligent attitude towards people who have experienced an irreparable loss.”

Stew, buckwheat and tea

In Tatarstan, the mothers of the mobilized were alsogiven gifts on Mother's Day, but towels were not included in the set. Each of the 112 women was given rice, buckwheat, Princess Nouri tea, sweets, condensed milk, waffles, stew and sprats. Journalists calculated that the cost of the set was a little more than 1,000 rubles.

In the Chelyabinsk region, the mothers of the mobilized were congratulated on the holiday by handing a postcard. “On the eve of the celebration of Mother's Day, events dedicated to this holiday were held in all educational institutions of the city. The format of events is varied: concerts, master classes, competitions. On behalf of the head of the municipality, Nikolai Shimanovich, mothers whose husbands became participants in a special military operation were presented with greeting cards, ” said Olga Lytkina, head of the headquarters for supporting families of military personnel participating in the SVO,“ We are together ”.

For the death of her husband – 10 thousand rubles and a photo report on receipt

Photos of women standing with money in their hands began to appear on social networks almost immediately after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The wives and mothers of the fallen soldiers were awarded 10 thousand rubles each, and then photographed for a photo report (most often against the backdrop of the letter Z). Pictures have been published many times on social networks criticizing such “reporting accounting”, however, despite this, they continue to appear. Apparently, Yevgeny Skripnik, an associate of Igor Girkin, publishes them for the report.

Skrypnik also often publishes photo reports on purchases for the “fighters of Novorossiya”, which were undertaken thanks to the “help of friends”. For example, the purchase of three small infantry shovels, medicine for a wounded soldier for 1,800 rubles, a camouflage net or sleeping bags – any purchase is accompanied by a mandatory photo report.

"Public Medal" for the death of his son

In Bratsk, the mothers of the fallen soldiers were awarded the public medal "Mother of the Defender of the Fatherland." At the presentation, Deputy Mayor for Social Affairs Marina Zubakova herself noted that the military died "seemingly in peacetime", while they fought "for the independence of our homeland."

In the report on the awarding, the announcer reads out the text that the awarded mothers "now pray for all the sons of the Fatherland", because they can no longer return their sons.

“We honor mothers who raised not just boys, not just sons, but defenders of the Fatherland,” says Zubakova. “They brought up heroes who, in the literal sense of the word, gave their lives, it would seem, already in the post-war peacetime for the independence of our country. Not only when localizing some internal conflicts in our state, but also in foreign operations. They must be recognized, recognizable, their names must be known. It was my mother who gave birth to the hero whom we honor, and whose name we will perpetuate and will always remember.

Every Thursday – a medal for the dead sons

All over Russia, the mothers of the soldiers killed in Ukraine are awarded the Order of Courage. They are awarded so often that, as the military commissar of the Volgograd region Andrey Letunov put it , it has already become a tradition to present medals for the dead on Thursdays. In August, the tradition had to be broken and the orders were presented not on Thursday, but on Tuesday, as a batch of medals for the dead paratroopers suddenly arrived.

“We already have a tradition of handing over awards to the relatives of the victims every Thursday. Today we received military paratrooper awards. At the request of military veterans, we are entering an unplanned regime. It was on this day that they organized the transfer of orders to the families of the dead military paratroopers, ”says Letunov.

Meeting with Putin

Not only are the mothers and wives of the dead rewarded with an accountable 10 thousand, some women were allowed to see Vladimir Putin, who personally told them that the fact that the sons "choose such a fate" is "the result of your work, without any doubt."

Photo and video reports released by the Kremlin often show women smiling or laughing. The meeting with Putin was attended by 17 women. The Telegram channel “We Can Explain” identified some of them as functionaries of pro-government movements, officials and representatives of United Russia.

Meanwhile, mothers whose sons really died in Ukraine or are still alive, but beg to save them, continue to record video messages to Putin. So far, they have not been able to get through to the president, even virtually.
