This 12-centimeter helminth was pulled out of the cheek of a resident of Lyubertsy. Where did he come from? It’s all about the usual bite of an unusual mosquito.
A 51-year-old woman came to the hospital complaining of swelling and itching in the cheek area. Doctors conducted an examination and brought out – most likely, a benign tumor appeared in the woman’s cheek. They decided to remove her.
However, during the operation, doctors were in for a surprise. It turned out that the patient’s cheek was not a tumor, but a 12-centimeter parasite. It was he who constantly moved, which caused itching and discomfort. The doctor who performed the operation was very surprised – according to him, this is the first such case in 10 years of practice.
Later, the patient said that not so long ago she was bitten on the cheek by a mosquito. Most likely, he was infected with helminthiasis, which, in turn, picked up from some domestic animal.
