The prosecutor demands that ex-senator Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul be sentenced to life imprisonment for organizing two murders and participating in a criminal community. This is reported by a TASS correspondent from the courtroom.
In 2020, the Court of Appeal overturned the decision to extend the arrest of Arashukov, his father, and three other defendants. Lawyer Volodymyr Postanyuk said that they would be held in custody until a new consideration of the measure of restraint.
The investigation believes that Raul Arashukov, as the head of the criminal community, ordered the murder of Aslan Zhukov, deputy chairman of the Adege-Khese youth movement, and Fral Shebzukhov, adviser to the President of the KChR, and his son Rauf, as a member of the organized criminal group, carried out the order. Both deny their guilt.
The Arashukovs were detained in January 2019 after the Federation Council approved the removal of immunity from Rauf Arashukov. The senator was detained on January 30 right in the building of the Federation Council, charged with participation in a criminal community, pressure on a witness and murder, after which he was arrested. Later it became known that the senator's father, Raul, had been detained. According to the investigation, Raul Arashukov and his nephew Ruslan were involved in the theft of natural gas from Gazprom for several years in the amount of more than 30 billion rubles. In total, within the framework of the “Arashukovs case”, more than ten people were brought to justice, who are charged with participation in an organized criminal group and embezzlement.
