Workers from Tajikistan hired by Russian companies to build houses in occupied Mariupol are not being paid on time or in full. They themselves told Radio Ozodi about this.
According to them, several Russian companies offered salaries ranging from 130,000 to 250,000 rubles a month, as well as temporary housing and three meals a day. However, instead of the promised money, Tajiks receive only 60-70 thousand rubles, which they had previously received in Russia. Radio Ozodi’s interlocutor, 20-year-old Sunnatullo, who has been working in Mariupol for more than a month, said that not only the salary, but also the “social package” leaves much to be desired:
“We were promised a salary of 120 thousand rubles and were told that we can receive the first part on the 15th of each month. For half a month I was paid 45 thousand rubles. They promised temporary accommodation and three meals a day. Housing is worse than ever, the food is disgusting. Many complain that employers do not pay wages in full and late.”
His words are confirmed by another worker, Iso. He said that he had been working in Mariupol for almost half a year, and during this time he had never received a salary on time. In total, since mid-November, several workers from Tajikistan, involved in construction in Mariupol, turned to the editorial office of Radio Ozodi. It is not known how many builders Russia sent to the occupied city, however, according to the publication, there are 110 workers from the Restavratsiya construction company alone in Mariupol.
