In the Rostov region, a man was detained who had fired at police officers in Novoshakhtinsk the day before, Governor Vasily Golubev said . Telegram-channel Baza claims that this is a Wagner PMC fighter, he deserted from the battlefield in Ukraine.

On December 7, the media reported that in Novoshakhtinsk, which is located 20 km from the border with Ukraine, an unknown person in camouflage and a balaclava fired a machine gun at police officers who were combing the area in search of a missing woman. As a result, the 27-year-old sergeant was wounded and hospitalized. Telegram channels wrote that it was a deserter.

“The offender has been arrested. As a result of well-coordinated operational-search actions, he was found in an empty building near Novoshakhtinsk. Investigative actions are being carried out, ”Golubev said.

Baza writes that the detainee is 38-year-old Wagner PMC fighter Pavel Nikolin. He was serving time in the Ufa IK-4 when he was recruited for the war in Ukraine. On November 24, Nikolin changed his mind about fighting and fled.
