Russia has deployed Grads on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP and is preparing a provocation – Energoatom

Russia has deployed several Grad MLRS on the territory of the captured Zaporozhye NPP and is preparing another provocation at the plant site. The corresponding statement was published in the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Energoatom.

The Russian Federation placed weapons near the power unit No. 6, in close proximity to the storage area with spent nuclear fuel, the report says. Earlier, some “protective structures” were built in the same place in a secret mode, violating all the conditions for nuclear and radiation safety.

“The most likely provocation that is being prepared is the shelling of the opposite bank of the Dnieper by Grads, in particular Nikopol and Marganets, from the ZNPP site using “cover” – power units and spent nuclear fuel storage.”

The company appealed to the IAEA and the global nuclear community, calling once again for the creation of a safe zone inside and around the plant, which requires its complete demilitarization and de-occupation.

In November, after dozens of explosions near the station , IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi once again turned to the warring parties and called for an agreement and as soon as possible to introduce a nuclear safety zone around the ZNPP. In September, the IAEA, after completing an inspection at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, published a report stating that all seven nuclear safety rules were violated at the plant and there was a risk of a "nuclear incident" if the shelling did not stop.
