The new package of EU sanctions will include a ban on the supply of drones to Russia directly and through third countries

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen , announced the ninth package of sanctions against Russia.

“Russia continues to bring death and destruction to Ukraine. We support Ukraine and make Russia pay for its cruelty. The existing 8 packages of sanctions that we have introduced so far have already hit Russia hard. Now we are stepping up pressure on Russia with the 9th package,” she said in a statement.

The new sanctions package includes:

“We are also targeting the Russian propaganda machine, with plans to take 4 more channels off the air, and we propose more economic measures against the Russian energy and mining sector,” the head of the European Commission said in a statement.

On December 5, the eighth package of EU sanctions against Russia came into force, including the introduction of a ceiling price on Russian oil transported by tankers.

This package also included a ban on servicing crypto wallets of citizens and residents of Russia.
