The Russian military, who are now at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, are stepping up repressions against employees, Ukrainian Energoatom reports . The day before, on December 8, two workers were severely beaten, they were taken away in an unknown direction.
“The Russian military broke into the premises where the department of social programs of ZNPP is located, and in the presence of other workers they severely beat the head of the department, Alexei Trubenkov, and his deputy, Yuri Androsov. After a severe beating, the invaders took them out of the premises and took them away in an unknown direction,» the report says.
Another employee, shift supervisor Konstantin Beiner, was detained. He is "directly responsible for nuclear and radiation safety" at ZNPP.
The company claims that the military is trying to gain loyalty from the staff and force as many employees as possible to transfer to the “fake” Zaporozhye NPP Operating Organization JSC, which in fact is run by Rosatom.
“The invaders fail to do this – the staff resists, so they rage and turn into real policemen and jailers,” Energoatom writes.
This is not the first time that the Ukrainian side accuses the Russian military of beating the station staff. So, in July, it became known about the death of a diver of the ZNPP hydroshop Andrey Goncharuk due to torture. They tried to force him to drain the cooling pools of the reactors.
On December 8, Energoatom reported that Russia had placed the Grady station on the territory and was preparing another provocation. The weapon, according to these data, is located in close proximity to the storage facility with spent nuclear fuel. Earlier, some “protective structures” were built in the same place in a secret mode, violating all the conditions of nuclear and radiation safety.
Energoatom believes that Russia wants to bombard the opposite bank of the Dnieper with Grads, in particular Nikopol and Marganets, from the ZNPP site using “cover” – power units and spent nuclear fuel storage.
In November, after dozens of explosions near the station , IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi once again turned to the warring parties and called for an agreement and as soon as possible to introduce a nuclear safety zone around the ZNPP. In September, the IAEA, after completing an inspection at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, published a report stating that all seven nuclear safety rules were violated at the plant and there was a risk of a "nuclear incident" if the shelling did not stop.
