Oppositionist Alexei Navalny was placed in a ShIZO cell "a convict with serious problems with household hygiene." This is reported in his social networks.
“Of course, it is best to hit a person with a club on the thighs and heels. Very painful and works very well. In my colony, those who are dissatisfied with something are usually treated that way. But what about those who are not allowed to be beaten? Well, or not yet allowed. In this case, the Russian prison also invented a huge number of options. The simplest thing is to keep a person in a punishment cell. And if the ShIZO by itself no longer “breaks” him, then you can first throw a homeless person into his cell. Which is what happened to me now. In prison slang, it's called "damn." But we will call it correctly: a convict who has big problems with household hygiene. If you live in a cell, and some person is 24/7 at arm's length from you, and you are both one or two meters from the toilet 24/7, and the toilet is a hole in the floor, maintaining hygiene is absolutely fundamental. And a prisoner who is problematic in this sense will instantly make your life unbearable. But everything is legal. This is what the administration reports with joyful and happy smiles in response to my indignation,” Navalny wrote.
At the same time, the new cellmate, according to the oppositionist, had already written an application for transfer, but the colony staff refused to give him a place in another cell. “I am separately infuriated by the instrumentalization of a living person – turning him into an instrument of pressure. The activists planted a blade on him so that the administration would have an excuse to throw him into my cell,” Navalny said.
Navalny said that he had to "re-educate" a cellmate: "A combination of threats, screams and calls for conscience made him wash his face and brush his teeth. I gave him washing powder and he washed his clothes. We now wash our hands with soap several times a day. And so on. And so on. I feel like some strange teacher in a kindergarten, where instead of children there are homeless people living on a heating main.
On December 1, it became known that Navalny, who is serving a term in IK-6 in the village of Melehovo, Vladimir Region, was again sent to a punishment cell. This time, because the oppositionist allegedly “violated the uniform”: he was not wearing a jacket.
