The court in Vilnius decided to demolish the House of Moscow

The district court of Vilnius decided to demolish the House of Moscow and collect a fine of 300 euros from the manager of the building of a public institution for each day of non-compliance with the decision. It is reported by Delfi with reference to the message of the construction inspection.

“After the court granted the Construction Inspectorate the right to demolish the illegally constructed building, an estimate for the demolition will be drawn up in the near future and public procurement procedures will be carried out to select a contractor who will carry out the demolition work. It is planned that the demolition of the House of Moscow will be completed by the end of 2023,” the inspectorate said in a statement.

In 2016, the District Court of Vilnius partially satisfied the claim of the Construction Inspectorate and declared the permit issued by the local government illegal, stating that it violates the requirements for building height and density.

This summer, artists from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Ukraine teamed up and painted a fresco on the facade of the House of Moscow based on a photograph by Ukrainian photographer Elena Tytarenko from a series of portraits of Ukrainian volunteers helping refugees and Ukrainian soldiers in Zaporozhye. The project was called "Until the win / Until the end." “The neo-fresco on the so-called House of Moscow will become a timely and powerful sign of the unity of the Baltic countries and Ukraine,” said Petr Beshta, Ambassador of Ukraine in Vilnius, during the opening of the project.
