Zelensky invited Russia to withdraw troops from Ukraine for Christmas

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky invited Russia to withdraw the occupying troops from the country for Christmas. He stated this, speaking to the leaders of the G7 countries, the message was published by the Office of the President in Telegram.

According to Zelensky, if the Russian Federation carries out the withdrawal of troops, this will also ensure a reliable cessation of hostilities.

“I hope you will support our call because it is a global concern and part of our formula for peace. I don't see any reason why Russia shouldn't do it now, at Christmas. The answer from Moscow will show what they really want.”

Zelensky also proposed convening a special summit, the Global Peace Formula Summit, to determine exactly how and when countries will be able to implement the points of the Ukrainian peace formula. He suggested that Russia take a concrete diplomatic step towards a settlement, about which "there is so much talk" in Moscow.

“Russia continues aggression, which means that support for Ukraine should also be continued. Next year, same as this year. But besides this, we must take long-awaited steps – something that will hasten the onset of peace.

One of these steps, the Ukrainian president called the supply of weapons to Ukraine, including artillery, shells and long-range weapons, in order to prevent an escalation from Russia.
