In St. Petersburg, the Zvezda machine-building plant caught fire, which produces multi-purpose engines, including fulfilling orders for the Russian Navy. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the city.

The building on the territory of the plant burns on an area of ​​200 square meters. m, specified in the message. According to preliminary data, no victims. 7 units of equipment and 35 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the liquidation.

The latest news on the plant's website says that it took part in the Army-2022 forum, which took place in August. At that time, the company's exposition presented mass-produced diesel engines and reduction gears for the Navy, which are widely used on ships and boats of various projects. Models of the "star-shaped" engine of the M500 type and the in-line 6-cylinder engine for marine diesel generators of the DGAS-315 type were also presented.

PJSC Zvezda was founded in 1932 and is now a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of high-speed diesel engines with a capacity of 500 to 7400 kW for shipbuilding, railway transport and small-scale power generation, as well as heavy marine gearboxes with a capacity of up to 20,000 kW. Most of the high-speed ships of the Russian Navy and border troops are equipped with Zvezda engines. In addition, the plant now produces marine and industrial diesel generators, as well as emergency standby power plants based on diesel engines of its own production with a capacity of 315 to 1000 kW.
