The Sejm of Poland recognized Russia as a State Sponsor of Terrorism

The Sejm of Poland has recognized Russia as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. The text of the resolution adopted by the Sejm states that Russia "attacks the territories of other countries, commits armed attacks, war crimes and genocide."

“The bestial and illegal aggression of Russia against Ukraine continues. The Russian military carries out terrorist attacks throughout the occupied country, as a result of which thousands of people, including many children, have died. Russia and its armed structures and formations commit acts of terror against civilian infrastructure, mass executions and kidnappings, sexual violence and torture, separation of children from their families in order to Russify them, mass deportations,” the deputies said in a statement.

Polish authorities point out that Russia is responsible for the downing of flight MH17 in the Donetsk region in 2014 and is responsible for the crash of the Polish Air Force flight in Smolensk in 2010, which killed 96 people on board, including Polish President Lech Kaczynski. (Recall that the court in The Hague found Russia guilty for the downing of the Boeing MH17; as for the plane crash with the Polish plane, the Interstate Aviation Committee concluded that it was caused by the erroneous actions of the crew, however, the Polish side stated that it could be an explosion and the work of Russian special services.)

At the end of November, the European Parliament recognized Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism due to Russian military strikes on civilian targets in Ukraine.
