The European Union revokes broadcasting licenses from Channel One, NTV, Rossiya-1 and REN TV

The EU Council approved a new package of sanctions against Russia. In particular, they are introduced against Russian state channels: NTV, NTV-Mir, Rossiya-1, REN TV.

“The Council has initiated the process of suspending the broadcasting licenses of four media outlets: NTV/NTV Mir, Rossiya-1, REN-TV and Channel One,” reads a press release from the Council. “These media are under constant direct or indirect control of the leadership of the Russian Federation and are used by the latter for their continuous and concerted activities of disinformation and military propaganda, legitimize Russian aggression and undermine support for Ukraine.”
