Since the beginning of a full-scale war in Ukraine, at least 450 children have died, more than 863 have been injured of varying severity. It is reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine. This is not final data: the count of victims continues in the temporarily occupied and recently liberated territories, as well as in zones of active hostilities.
Most of the children injured or killed due to the war were recorded in the following regions of Ukraine:
- Donetsk – 428
- Kharkiv – 267
- Kyiv – 117
- Nikolaevskaya – 80
- Zaporozhye – 78
- Kherson – 74
- Chernihiv – 68
- Luhansk – 65
- Dnepropetrovsk – 39.
The last case of death or injury of children was recorded on December 16 in Krivoy Rog, where a one and a half year old child died as a result of a Russian missile hitting a residential building. Four more children from 3 to 10 years old were injured. Also, due to Russian shelling, 3126 educational institutions of Ukraine were damaged, 337 of them were completely destroyed.
