Arestovich confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to kill the head of the Russian General Staff Gerasimov

The Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to kill the Chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov. This was stated by the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich in an interview with Russian lawyer Mark Feigin, thereby confirming the information from the investigation of The New York Times.

“We covered the headquarters where he was. They blew him to hell all over, to zero. A sufficient number of senior officers died there even without Gerasimov, but he managed to leave a little earlier – they didn’t have time, ”he said, adding that it was in late April or early May in Izyum.

The investigation in question claimed that American intelligence knew about Gerasimov's upcoming visit to the front. However, despite this, Washington did not transmit this information, as it was afraid of an escalation of the conflict and the start of a war between Russia and the United States. Despite this, Ukraine learned of Gerasimov's trip anyway, and U.S. officials asked it to call off the impending attack.

According to Bloomberg sources, Gerasimov was one of those with whom Vladimir Putin decided to invade Ukraine. In the weeks leading up to the outbreak of a full-scale war, Putin's circle of contacts narrowed even more, but he was in close contact with Gerasimov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.
