Putin and Lukashenko agreed to continue joint military exercises and work on the creation and production of military equipment

During the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, agreements were reached on the creation of a single defense space. It isreported by RIA Novosti. Thus, the parties decided to continue the practice of joint military exercises, as well as the development and production of military equipment. In addition, Lukashenko said that the governments of the two countries were instructed to finalize the program to create a single gas market.

Putin said that the situation in the world was also discussed during the meeting. According to him, the Russian Federation and Belarus are "effectively and jointly fighting the sanctions" of Western countries. He also promised that the countries will continue the practice of joint military exercises and the creation of new military equipment. Alexander Lukashenko said that today the S-400 and Iskander complexes, which were transferred by Russia, were put on combat duty in Belarus.

On December 19, Putin flew to Belarus for the first time since 2019. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also arrived in Minsk.
