Pussy Riot activists Pyotr Verzilov and Veronika Nikulshina were detained in Qatar for trying to run onto the football field during the World Cup final . The action was prepared in protest against the war in Ukraine, the imprisonment of Alexei Navalny and the oppression of women in Iran.

"Mediazona" clarifies that the detained activists of Pussy Riot were released on the same evening.

As part of this World Cup, activists still managed to hold one action: during the match between the US and Iran teams, Pussy Riot members appeared in the stands in T-shirts with the print “Woman Life Freedom” and the names of killed Iranian women.

In July 2018, during the World Cup final in Moscow, Pussy Riot activists Pyotr Verzilov, Veronika Nikulshina and Olga Kuracheva ran onto the field during the match. The action was called "The policeman enters the game." After that, the activists were arrested for 15 days.
