US President Joe Biden signed a memorandum on the allocation of another package of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of up to $1 billion, the White House reported .
The new package of military assistance to Kiev included the Patriot system, said US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
According to Blinken, the U.S. will allocate $1.85 billion in total to Ukraine, of which $1 billion will go to “strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses,” including the purchase of Patriot air defense systems, and the remaining $850 million to “security assistance.”
On December 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with Biden in Washington. The plan of his visit was published on CNN (the time is indicated in Kyiv):
21:00 – meeting with Biden;
21:30 – bilateral meeting with Biden;
23:30 – press conference with Biden;
01:15 – meeting with Nancy Pelosi;
02:30 – speech at the general meeting of the Congress.
Biden invited Zelensky because he believes the war in Ukraine has entered a new phase, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the National Security Council, told CNN This Morning.
