The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, will arrive in Moscow on December 22. Izvestia writes about this with reference to Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna.
According to him, Grossi's visit will be devoted to consultations on the creation of a nuclear and physical nuclear safety zone around the Zaporozhye NPP. Ulyanov said that at the moment "this process is going neither shaky nor rolls", but will advance thanks to Grossi. Russia in the negotiation process will be represented by employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rosatom, the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Guard and Rostekhnadzor. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Vladimir Putin would not meet with Grossi.
Since autumn, the IAEA has been negotiating the creation of a safe zone around the ZNPP. In early December, the Ukrainian Energoatom announced that Russia had placed several Grad MLRS on the territory of the captured station and was preparing another provocation at the station site. After that, he once again turned to the world nuclear community, calling for help with the demilitarization and de-occupation of the ZNPP.
