The new site of the Dozhd TV channel tvrain.tv has ceased to open for users located in Russia. It is only accessible via VPN. As RBC was told in the press service of Roskomnadzor, "access to the information resource tvrain.tv is limited on an ongoing basis due to the repeated placement of prohibited content."
“The resource systematically distributed materials containing false information regarding a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine,” the supervisory authority said.
The previous website of the TV channel on the .ru domain was blocked by Roskomnadzor on March 1, 2022 at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office.
In May, Dozhd tried to challenge the blocking of the site through the courts. During the consideration of the lawsuit, a representative of the Prosecutor General's Office said that the work of the channel threatened the "stability of the constitutional order and security" of Russia.
The department claimed that the information posted by the channel contains calls for extremism, violence against citizens of the Russian Federation, mass violations of public order and public safety, and “publishes false information about the actions of the Russian military as part of a special operation to protect the DPR and LPR.”
