The Investigative Committee forbade politician Vladimir Kara-Murza to talk on the phone with children. The corresponding decision was issued by the investigator for especially important cases of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee Andrey Zadachin. This was reported on the page of Kara-Murza on Twitter.
According to the investigation, the politician's conversations with his children can "create a real threat to the proper conduct of criminal proceedings, as well as otherwise hinder the proceedings."
Kara-Murza has been in a pre-trial detention center since April on charges of spreading “fake news” about the Russian army motivated by political hatred (clause “e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The reason for initiating the case was his speech in the Arizona House of Representatives on March 15, 2022. “Today the whole world sees what the Putin regime is doing with Ukraine. He drops bombs on residential areas, on hospitals and schools,” the politician said during his speech.
In August, another criminal case was opened against Kara-Murza – he is accused of carrying out the activities of an undesirable organization (part 1 of article 234.1 of the Criminal Code). The reason was a conference in support of Russian political prisoners, which he held on October 27, 2021 at the Sakharov Center in Moscow.
In October, the politician was charged with treason “for public speeches critical of the Russian authorities” (Article 275 of the Criminal Code). His lawyer Vadim Prokhorov said that the reason for initiating the third case was criticism of the Russian authorities, with which the politician spoke in Lisbon, Helsinki and Washington.
