SOTA: in Astrakhan, at the request of the FSB, the parents of an emigrating opposition blogger are kept in the department for two nights

In Astrakhan, on December 22, the parents of anti-war blogger Vasily Shevtsov, who emigrated from Russia, were detained. At the time of writing this news, Yuri and Galina Shevtsov are being held in police station No. 2 for the second night in a row.

Their son claims that the detention was carried out with the participation of an FSB officer. SOTA also writes about the participation of the special services, citing a source in the Astrakhan police. Shevtsov Jr. said that the reason for the detention of his parents is unknown, and his sister was not allowed into the department to see her parents.

“The last word was from my father: “We are being taken for interrogation.” Now, according to the latest information, they seem to be divided into different cells, left for a day. Some kind of trial tomorrow,” Shevtsov said on December 22. However, no trial took place the next day. In addition, a lawyer was not allowed to see Galina and Yury, and their relatives are still not given any information. The only thing that Yuri could convey was that no investigative actions are being taken against them. Their lawyer claims that there are employees of the "E" center in the department.

A SOTA source said that today, December 24, the Shevtsovs will be taken to court under the pretext of protocols under the arrest article on disobedience to police officers (Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

Shevtsov Jr. left Russia on September 22, the day after the announcement of mobilization. On his YouTube channel Caspian Poacher , he published videos about the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict and the first Chechen war, and also criticized the Russian government. He connects the persecution of his parents with his opposition activities.
