The State Duma is preparing amendments prohibiting citizens who have left Russia from working as self-employed. The deputies also want to raise taxes for individual entrepreneurs who have left, said Andrey Isaev, deputy head of the United Russia faction.
“For the self-employed, for individual entrepreneurs, preferential tax regimes have now been created in our country. The self-employed actually pay 4-6%. In order to prevent this from being abused by people who have gone abroad, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin proposed to cancel preferential regimes for them, ”Isaev said.
Thus, the amendments will oblige all Russians who have been absent from Russia for more than six months to draw up employment contracts instead of civil law contracts. “Then their tax will increase, or they will have to register as individual entrepreneurs, but at the same time not enjoy the benefits that are established for this category in our legislation,” explains Isaev.
The bill in question will be formalized as amendments to the Tax Code and submitted to the State Duma in early 2023.
