The Higher School of Economics fired two professors for their anti-war stance. The leadership of the Perm branch of the National Research University Higher School of Economics has removed Associate Professor Dinara Gagarina from her post as Head of the Historical Research Sector. In Moscow, Ilya Inishev, an associate professor at the School of Cultural Studies, was fired.
The HSE began imposing "sanctions" on Gagarina in December. First, she was removed from the leadership of the master's program. On December 27, she was finally fired – as Gagarina herself told the 7×7 publication, allegedly for repeated failure to fulfill work duties (clause 5, part 1, article 81 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).
Shortly before his dismissal, the parents of HSE students wrote several denunciations against Gagarin, in which they complained about obscene language and “discrediting” of the Russian army in the teacher’s publications. It amounted to 138 acts of offenses. HSE students told DOXA that Inishev was also denounced. The university justifies the decision to dismiss the teacher by his "immoral act, incompatible with the continuation of work."
In total, according to DOXA, since the start of the full-scale war, Russian universities have fired at least 25 teachers because of their anti-war stance.
