A resident of Kramatorsk, who gave war criminal Igor Girkin (Strelkov) information about the deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. It is reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.
According to her, the investigation proved that in March 2022, the man agreed with Girkin on the transfer of information. Communication took place in a social network banned in Ukraine – probably VKontakte or Odnoklassniki. For a month, the accused sent 14 messages to Girkin with the coordinates of the checkpoints and locations of the Ukrainian military in Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.
The man was arrested in April. He was tried for disseminating information about the location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine under martial law (part 3 of article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Girkin (also using fictitious names and surnames – Strelkov or Sergey Runov) became famous after 2014 and the start of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, where he led the "DPR" separatists. In addition, he headed the "Ministry of Defense of the Republic." Girkin is one of four defendants in the Malaysian Boeing crash that killed all 298 people on board. In November, a court in the Netherlands found him guilty. The shooters have been put on the international wanted list.
