The ex-director of Open Russia Andrei Pivovarov was transferred from the pre-trial detention center in Krasnodar, according to the Telegram channel of his supporters.
“He will spend the New Year in a special wagon for prisoners. A gift from the authorities for the holiday, ”the message says.
On November 22, the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Leninsky Court of Krasnodar, which found Pivovarov guilty under the article on the activities of an “undesirable organization” (Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Pivovarov was detained on May 31, 2021 in St. Petersburg, after which he was taken to the Kuban. He was accused of leading an "undesirable organization". On July 15, he was sentenced to four years in prison. He spent one and a half of them in the pre-trial detention center of Krasnodar.
After the appeal, Pivovarov was to be transferred to a penal colony near St. Petersburg, but on December 7, the Pivovarov Team reported that he had been transferred from the village of Akhtarsk, where he had been for the last few months before the court decision, to Krasnodar. The day before, recruiters from the Wagner PMC appeared in Akhtarsk.
