The Ministry of Internal Affairs is checking journalist Leonid Parfenov due to the fact that he did not notify the state that he received Israeli citizenship. RIA Novosti and Mash write about this, citing their sources.
According to Mash, Parfenov allegedly repatriated back in 2017 (Parfenov himself did not publicly report this). However, the check began immediately after an interview with a journalist was published on Yury Dud's YouTube channel:
In July, the politician Leonid Gozman was detained in Moscow in connection with the case of non-notification of dual citizenship. Later it became known that a criminal case was opened against Gozman's wife under the same article.
In 2021, the Ministry of Internal Affairs put Pyotr Verzilov, the publisher of Mediazona, on the wanted list because he concealed his Canadian citizenship.
