Due to the pension reform in Russia in 2023, it is impossible to retire on general terms – Svobodnye Novosti

In 2023, in Russia, due to the ongoing pension reform, citizens will not be able to retire on general terms. This was reported by the Svobodnye Novosti news agency with reference to the table of the Pension Fund, the relevance of which was confirmed to the publication by the press service of the Saratov branch of the PFR.

In 2022, the retirement age in the Russian Federation has increased, now women will be able to retire from 56.5 years, and men – from 61.5 years. The length of service was increased to 13 years, and the minimum number of points of the individual coefficient for assigning a pension to 23.4. So, in 2024, women born in 1966 (58 years old) and men born in 1961 (63 years old) will be able to retire. It turns out that in 2023 in Russia there is no retirement age, after reaching which you can retire on general terms.

The regional branch of the PFR explained to the publication that in 2023, Russians who have the right to early retirement will officially become pensioners. Among them are parents with many children, teachers, medical workers, citizens with a long working history, as well as representatives of other privileged categories of citizens from the point of view of the Pension Fund.

By January 1, 2022, there were 970,000 fewer pensioners registered with the Pension Fund, RBC reported, citing data from the Pension Fund. This is the largest decline since the early 1990s.

In the first years of the pension reform in Russia alone, more than 800,000 Russians lost their payments. At the end of 2019, more than 1 million pensions were assigned, of which about 830,000 were old-age pensions. That is, 355 thousand people went on a well-deserved rest less than they could if the retirement age in the country had not been raised. The problem was acknowledged in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta by Anton Drozdov, head of the FIU at that time.

Since 2023, the Pension Fund and the Social Insurance Fund (FSS) have merged into a single Social Fund of Russia. Sergey Chirkov, Acting Chairman of the PFR Board, said in an interview with TASS that in connection with the merger of the fund, the budget has become unified, this year it will exceed 13.5 trillion rubles. According to him, these are pensions, maternity capital, payments to pregnant women, payments in case of accidents, etc. In addition, indexation of all payments is provided, Chirkov noted. The fund is also waiting for the transition to a single digital platform, the system will reflect all the information: pension rights or the status of a mother of many children, a labor veteran.
