The head of the Kharkiv OVA, Oleg Sinegubov, said that over the past 24 hours, mortar and artillery strikes were carried out on the cities. According to him, Kupyansk, Volchansk and other settlements of Kupyansky, Chuguevsky and Kharkov regions were under fire. Outbuildings in Kupyansk were damaged, fires broke out. The head of the Nikolaev OVA, Vitaly Kim, also reported on the shelling. He stated with reference to the Operational Command "South" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that on December 31, from 22:00 to 23:30, air defense destroyed seven Shahed-136 kamikaze drones over Nikolayevshchina.
“On December 31 at 14:00 Nikolaev experienced enemy rocket attacks. Two residential buildings were destroyed, 12 more residential buildings and three educational institutions were damaged. There was also a fire on the territory of the garage cooperative. About 20 garages were damaged. The fire was quickly extinguished, seven people were injured as a result of the shelling.
According to him, on January 1, at 04:50, a settlement of the Kutsurub community was under shelling, and a residential building was damaged.
