On the night of December 31 and January 1, instead of salutes, residents of Kyiv listened to explosions from rockets and kamikaze drones, and the Russian Defense Ministry again reported on “hitting targets”. The Insider correspondent visited the site of the destruction in Kyiv and asked eyewitnesses about what they had to endure and about their hopes for the year 2023.

The video showed destruction in the center of Kyiv – private houses were damaged in the historical area of ​​​​the city (Protasov Yar), located in the Solomensky and partially in the Goloseevsky district. Also under fire was a hotel near the palace "Ukraine":

On the night of January 1, 2023, Russia continued shelling Ukrainian territories, including with kamikaze drones. The head of the administration of the Kyiv region, Oleksiy Kuleba, said that Ukrainian air defense systems repelled an attack by Shahed drones, which were aimed at energy infrastructure facilities. Due to Russian shelling, Kherson and nearby settlements were left without electricity.
