A resident of the Satal district told reporters that the neighborhood literally froze over in a matter of hours, as it was minus 45 degrees outside.

“After all, not only heating was gone, but sewer pipes, radiators and septic tanks, boilers burst! This is almost a thousand private houses, a thousand families. A very difficult situation. Women with monthly children cry. I personally have two small children, 3 and 6 years old. We connected the generator, but the house is still cold. Pipes burst at dozens of houses. And the chairman could not be contacted for a day. Now I can’t calmly read the mayor’s office report about the “quick response” – we called for hours, asking for help, it was useless.”

Now the townspeople are looking for building hair dryers, generators, heat guns, but due to the holidays, most of the shops are closed. The mayor's office claims that it distributes generators to the victims, but there are not enough of them for everyone.

The authorities noted that as a result of the accident, the electric power cable from the Satal substation was damaged, the employees of the Yakutskenergo company on the subscriber line of SONT Satal are replacing the damaged termination. The mayor's office claimed that they would fix the breakdown by 16-00 on January 2, but by 22:00 local time the problem had not been solved.
