SBU charged Nabiullina for “introducing the ruble zone” in the occupied regions of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) charged the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, who took part in financing "military groups" in the territories of Ukraine occupied by the Russian Federation. The message was published in the Telegram channel of the service.

She is charged with Part 3 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“deliberate actions committed by a representative of the authorities, by prior agreement of a group of persons, in order to change the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine and violate the procedure established by the Constitution of Ukraine, resulting in death of people and other grave consequences”).

“As a result of investigative and operational actions, the SBU collected evidence of the participation of the head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, in financing the military groups of the aggressor country. It was she who organized the introduction of the so-called ruble zone in the temporarily occupied regions of the south and east of Ukraine.”

Also, according to the SBU, it contributed to the local administrations of Russia in blocking the circulation of the hryvnia. In addition, Nabiullina instructed to open branches of the Kremlin-controlled Promsvyazbank on the basis of seized branches of Ukrainian financial institutions. To implement the plans, Russia banned electronic transactions and cash payments in the hryvnia in the occupied territories. The "ruble" revenues to the Russian budget thus obtained were used to finance the needs of the military-industrial complex and occupation groups.

The report clarifies that the issue of declaring Nabiullina on the international wanted list is now being decided. The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 10 to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
