Bild correspondent Bjorn Stritzel injured in Ukraine

Bild correspondent Bjorn Stritzel was wounded by shrapnel in the war in Ukraine. Bild editor-in-chief Johannes Boye writes that Stritzel's injury is "not very serious" and he is now "as safe as possible".

“However, this is a reminder of all the difficulties that reporters in Ukraine go through to tell the truth. Thank you!” Boye wrote on his Twitter.

Stritzel himself wrote that he was injured during lunch. There were three explosions, as a result of which the journalist received a cut on his forehead. He said that there was no video of the shell fragments, so it was impossible to say exactly what exactly caused the wound. According to Stritzel, it could have been a missile or a kamikaze drone. Where exactly the shooting took place, he did not specify.

According to the International Federation of Journalists, 67 journalists died in the line of duty in 2022. 12 of them are in the war between Russia and Ukraine. On March 23, The Insider journalist Oksana Baulina died in Kiev. She came under fire, filming the destruction in the Podolsky district of the city.
