The Russian Armed Forces fired on Bakhmut during the “Christmas truce”. 2 people died, 13 were injured – Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine

As a result of the shelling of Bakhmut on January 6 by the Russian military, two people were killed and 13 were injured. This was announced by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

“As a result of powerful mortar attacks on residential areas, a 66-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman were killed. Another 13 people received mine-explosive injuries and shrapnel wounds,” the report says. In addition, private and multi-apartment houses and other objects were damaged and destroyed.

Proceedings have begun on facts of violation of the laws and customs of war (part 1, part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

On January 6, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Christmas truce was observed by Russian troops "along the entire line of contact between the parties in Ukraine", despite ongoing shelling from Ukrainian positions. The department said that the ceasefire was introduced after the order of Vladimir Putin.
