The first case of infection with a new variant of the Kraken coronavirus has been recorded in Russia, Rospotrebnadzor reports .
According to the department, a person from the Penza region fell ill with it.
"Kraken" is a "recombinant" sub-strain of "Omicron", its difference from other strains lies in the higher rate of infection. In this case, we are not talking about a more severe form of the course of the disease.
According to Professor of Moscow State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, virologist Alexei Agranovsky, the evolution of "omicron" has taken the path "more contagious and less lethal."
