In the spring draft of 2023, they plan to call up men aged 18 to 30 years old, the lower limit will be raised to 21 years later, said Andrei Kartapolov, head of the State Duma Defense Committee. According to him, a number of changes in the legislation are needed, for this it is necessary to wait for an official proposal from the Ministry of Defense.
“Before the start of the spring conscription, each military commissariat will have to figure out how many people it has under the new requirements,” Andrey Kartapolov explained. “And then bring this data into line with the military assignment.”
Kartapolov assumes that they will call for a "mixed type" – people aged 18 to 30 years. The transition to the system, which Sergei Shoigu spoke about earlier, when the minimum draft age will be 21 and the maximum age 30, will take from one to three years.
Earlier in Russia, men under the age of 27 were called up for military service.
