In Russia, the first memorial plaque was opened to a prisoner who fought as part of the Wagner PMC in Ukraine. He was convicted of murder

In Saratov, a memorial plaque was solemnly opened to the prisoner Denis Kovyrzin, who died in the Donbass, recruited by the Wagner PMC. As the BBC found out , he was taken to the front from a colony for security forces, where he was imprisoned for murder and illegal possession of weapons.

The memorial plaque was installed at the end of 2022 on the facade of the local school number 11. The BBC was also able to establish that Kovyrzin received posthumously a maroon beret, which is considered a symbol of high moral standards.

On January 12, Wagnerian Sergey Molodtsov, who beat his mother to death, was solemnly buried in the Urals.

Here is how Molodtsov's personality was described in the city administration:

“He was a creative person, engaged in bone carving, worked in a jewelry workshop. Relatives remember Sergei as a surprisingly extraordinary person who loves life. He was an honest man. The truth is the most important thing for him. He always responded to someone else's misfortune, helped the weak and the needy. They say about such people: shirt-guy. He loved music, freedom, speed. Bright memory!"

In early January, the media drew attention to the fact that one of the prisoners, whom the founder of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin promised freedom, was in prison for the murder of his grandmother, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
