40 people died in a plane crash in Nepal. There were Russians on board

At least 40 people have died in a plane crash in Nepal. According to Reuters, citing local authorities, among the passengers were foreigners, including four Russians.

A twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft operated by local carrier Yeti Airlines was on a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhar. In total, there were 72 people on board, including four crew members. As for foreigners, in addition to the Russians, several citizens of India and South Korea, as well as an Irishman, an Australian, a Frenchman and an Argentine flew on this flight.

The Kathmandu Post reports that there were six children on board the crashed plane, including three babies. According to the newspaper, ATR 72 fell between the old and new airports in Pokhar.

Nothing is yet known about the causes of the accident, a representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, in an interview with Reuters, noted only that "the weather was clear." Rescuers work at the crash site.

FlightRadar24 reports that the crashed plane was 15 years old.
