“Gave a reasonable reason for jealousy.” Almaty court upholds man who stabbed wife with knife

The Bostandyk District Court No. 2 of Almaty found 30-year-old Nikolai Vedenyapin guilty of stabbing his wife out of jealousy, but noted that the woman “gave the defendant a justified reason for jealousy.” It is reported by Qaz365.kz.

“The victim herself, with her ambiguous behavior and attitude towards the witness Khalitov A., gave the defendant (husband) a reasonable cause for jealousy, which served as an impetus for his unlawful behavior towards the victim,” the court statement says.

30-year-old Nikolai Vedenyapin was sentenced to three years in prison. He was found guilty under article 106, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm." In court, he pleaded guilty and said that he had attacked his wife because she and her friend were doing home photo shoots.

According to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, Irina Vedenyapina received bodily injuries: multiple penetrating stab wounds of the abdominal cavity with a wound to the left lobe of the liver and a wound of the hepatoduodenal ligament, stab wounds of the neck with a wound to the larynx and esophagus.

Vedenyapin will serve his sentence in an institution of the penitentiary system of medium security. The court also exacted compensation from him in favor of the victim in the amount of two million tenge.
