The Supreme Court of Russia recognized the MKU movement (“Maniacs. The Cult of Murders”) as a terrorist organization. This is reported by TASS with reference to the case file.
According to the prosecutor's office, the movement was "created in Ukraine and based on Nazi ideology." The message also states that the purpose of creating the "MKU" is the formation of a "racially pure state", and the promotion of ideas on the Internet is aimed at forming a "cult of violence and stimulation of the commission of murders."
RIA Novosti published a photo with the detainees:
The abbreviation MKU stands for "Maniacs. Killer cult. Previously, the movement was written about as a group of teenagers that adheres to the ideology of racial superiority. Investigative authorities in Russia link her to "Ukrainian neo-Nazis". "Mediazona" deciphered the abbreviation as "Youth who smiles." The first detentions of the so-called members of the group took place in February 2021 in Voronezh. In January 2022, the FSB detained a resident of the Tver region, born in 2003, accusing him of involvement in the MKU. In a video distributed by the FSB, the detainee stated that he was engaged in "moderizing Internet channels in Telegram." According to him, the organizer of the group, Krasnov, wanted to arrange a series of major terrorist attacks in Russia, "so that everyone would be afraid of the MKU."
