In Tyumen, the prosecutor’s office asked the court to dissolve the marriage after the change of sex of one of the spouses

For the first time in the history of modern Russia, the Tyumen prosecutor's office asked the court to declare the marriage invalid due to the change of sex of one of the spouses. This was reported in the joint press service of the judicial system of the Tyumen region, reports IA SM.News Tyumen.

The prosecutor conducted a check after information was received from the registry office about the application of a 33-year-old resident of Tyumen with a view to changing his full name after changing his gender. The registry office granted the application.

The prosecutor took into account that the Family Code of the Russian Federation calls marriage exclusively the union of a man and a woman. A preliminary hearing in the case has already been scheduled.
