Russians bought more housing in Turkey in 2022 than in the last six years

In 2022, Russians bought 16.3 thousand houses and apartments in Turkey, which is more than in the last six years: from 2016 to 2021, Russian citizens bought 16.2 thousand real estate in the republic. It is reported by RBC with reference to the data of the Institute of Statistics of the Republic.

According to the publication, the Russians for the first time ranked first among foreigners in terms of the number of transactions, they accounted for 24% of all home purchases in Turkey. Buying a home worth more than $50-75 thousand is one of the ways for foreign citizens to obtain a residence permit (residence permit) for two years. It is known that in 2022, more than 153 thousand Russians received a residence permit in Turkey.

If you invest more than $400 thousand, then you can apply for citizenship. At the same time, since June, the authorities have introduced a condition according to which the purchased property cannot be sold for at least three years.

The second and third places in terms of the number of purchased housing in Turkey are citizens of Iran and Iraq.

In 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, the number of Russians buying overseas property more than doubled . According to the data of Prian←ru, now Russians are more likely to purchase housing not for summer holidays, but to live abroad. Most of all, Russian citizens are interested in real estate in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Montenegro, Thailand and Bulgaria.
